THE WEE HOOSE IN THE WOODS
Quick Glance
The Wee Hoose In The Woods is our one bedroomed annex next to our family home in Brackla Woods, Culbokie - a countryside escape! Our annex is completely self contained with its own entrance. Consisting of a spacious living area with Samsung Smart TV plus Amazon Fire Stick and 4G Wifi. A fully equipped kitchen with an under-counter fridge freezer, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle along with all the essential cooking equipment you should need. We have a dining area with seating for three. Sleeping up to 2 adults with space for a travel cot in our king size bedroom with en-suite shower room including toiletries. Parking right outside your door on our drive with space for a car or van.
We are extremely lucky to be set within a beautiful area of the Highlands that is rich in wildlife. From the annex window you can watch our Great Spotted Woodpeckers in the trees and may be lucky enough to spot our red squirrel too. There are a whole host of different species of birds that can be seen and heard including our famous Red Kites, Cuckoo and many others. You'll wake up to our Poll Dorset sheep and lambs grazing in our fields all year round and Cherry Valley Pekin ducks swimming in the ponds. It truly is a great way to escape and switch off.
We are just outside of the lovely small village of Culbokie on the beautiful Black Isle. Only 9 miles from Inverness and 3 miles south of Dingwall it’s a very handy location for exploring the city but with the peace and quiet of the countryside. Culbokie has its own local village shop, pub and playpark. We are also perfectly situated for the NC500 if you’re starting or finishing! The Black Isle isn’t infact an island, but an peninsula surrounded on three sides by the Cromarty, Beauly and Moray firths. The exact origin of its name is unknown, though there are at least six possible explanations of why it became the "Black" Isle, ranging from the most intriguing, through its association with witchcraft and the black arts in mediaeval times, to the more prosaic, that the soil here is very black, or that it has so many trees that it looks black when viewed from surrounding areas in winter.
The perfect base to explore the Highlands, if you’re embarking on the NC500, munro bagging, cycling, exploring or maybe just for some peace and quiet in the countryside.
*Due to our location we cannot guarantee our wifi strength or speed although it is generally reliable and will manage to stream Netflix etc well. We also receive very limited TV reception due to the trees however we have added our Amazon Fire Stick to give guests additional options along with boardgames and DVD player.
